There’s nothing worse than waking up in the morning and still being tired. Being unable to really immerse yourself in playing with your children, because you’re just too tired and don’t have enough energy or how to get more energy.
Not having a lot of energy also makes it so you are more likely to procrastinate on getting tasks done that need to get done.
Unfortunately, even though we procrastinate, we still have to get those important everyday tasks completed. After all, no one else is going to do it for us.
Here are some ways to help get yourself more energized.
Get more sleep
Yes, I know how it is when you have a million things to get done and in order to get everything done, something has to give. Unfortunately, for a lot of us, we don’t make sleep a priority and frantically try to get things done when we should be sleeping. Or it is our “me” time, so we spend it surfing the web or watching a movie.
I know I’m guilty of that.
One way to get energized for a busy day is to give your body and brain sufficient time to recharge. Just like your smartphone can’t survive 24/7 without adequate charge, you can’t either and sleep is your charging time. Make sure you get enough of it.
You need to get 7-8 hours of sleep to be fully energized.
Eat a balanced diet
Make sure you take the time to eat throughout the day, especially breakfast! They don’t say breakfast is the most important meal of the day for no reason. Food provides fuel for you.
Make sure the foods you are eating are high-quality foods. With enough protein, vitamins and minerals in your food to give you the energy you need throughout your day.
You may also be low in magnesium. Magnesium is an essential nutrient that your body needs to carry out a variety of reactions, including the conversion of glucose into energy. A lack of magnesium means little energy. Take a minimum of 300 milligrams of magnesium daily by eating a handful of almonds or hazelnuts.
Feeling tired? Take a walk around the neighborhood. You may be wondering, why would anyone want to indulge in physical exertion when they are already tired? Well, various experts say that walking leads to a surge in energy. That is just how our body works.
Walking not only allows you to have an outlet from your mundane life, but it also serves to be a peaceful adventure where, for a few minutes, you can forget about all your worries and just take in all of the surroundings. Walking allows your mind to relax and will give you a boost of energy.
Take a power nap
When you are having a hectic day, even after getting the required amount of sleep, you may still feel tired during the afternoon. Pushing ourselves too much and putting a lot of pressure on ourselves saps our energy.
If you take an hour long power nap, it can do wonders for you. Taking a power nap will allow you to recharge.
Drink more water
Sometimes, our days are so jam-packed that we forget to drink water. Some of us neglect to drink it even when things aren’t so busy. However, this isn’t a good habit to get into.
Dehydration is directly linked to feelings of lethargy. If you do not drink the required amount of water every day, you are bound to feel tired and lethargic. How much you should be drinking depends on a variety of factors, such as climate, weight, etc. There is some controversy over how much water each person needs per day, but a good rule of thumb is 8, 8oz of water (or fluid) per day.
Listen to music
Unwinding is crucial to retaining energy and listening to music whenever you feel loaded with information or responsibilities may give your brain a break from the constant work. Close your eyes and let the music take you to another place. When you return from utopia, you will feel better and more confident about your day than before.
Also, high energy music can also transfer some of that energy to you. Have you ever felt energized after listening to a certain song? Turn that song on when you feel like you need an energy boost.
Early morning exercises are the best way to start your day. As you stretch and physically exert yourself, your brain gets time to fully wake up before you start bombarding it with information overload.
Also, exercising helps you ward off or beat depression and anxiety. Nothing zaps your energy more than mental illnesses. Physical exertion and yoga allow you to beat depression and, give you a positive outlook on life. With a positive world image in your head, you will feel more energized.
Say no to sugary drinks
Contrary to popular belief, sugary drinks do not help you feel energized. In reality, these drinks make you feel more tired than before as they boost your energy in the short run at the expense of feeling drained in the long run.
Instead, opt for drinks without sugar. If you are wanting to drink water, but need some flavor to your drink, add some lemon or cucumber slices.
The same is true for sugary foods. Candy might give you an energy high initially, but it will soon be an energy low.
Make sure you are taking the right vitamins for you. Check you levels with your doctor. Most people are low on Vitamin D and should be taking a supplement.
I know I have a lot more energy when I am taking my vitamins. Especially when I take my Vit b12 and D3. Those two are amazing for me.
All in all, you can take steps to help you be more energized throughout the day. Beat the procrastinator within you and face the world fully energized. I hope this helped you know how to have more energy.
